MPSC Combined Group C Services Examination
One prelims, several destinations — and a mains language paper in Marathi that no amount of aptitude will substitute for.
What this exam is
MPSC's combined recruitment for Group C posts: Clerk-Typist, Tax Assistant, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector, Industry Inspector and Technical Assistant. The current cycle opened at 2,619 posts and was revised upward to 5,707, with applications closing in early August 2026 and prelims set for 25 October 2026 in offline OMR mode.
Prelims is a single 100-question paper in 60 minutes — one mark each, a quarter off for a wrong answer — and it exists only to shortlist. Roughly seventy of those questions are General Studies with a heavy Maharashtra tilt (about 43% of the topics are state-specific), and the remainder is an arithmetic and intelligence test.
Mains is where the exam turns into two different problems. Paper 1 is language — Marathi at Class 12 level and English at graduation level, in one paper. Paper 2 combines general ability with post-specific content: for Tax Assistant that means book-keeping, accounting, GST and economic reform; for Clerk-Typist it leans towards general knowledge and IT. Both papers carry two marks a question with the same quarter-mark penalty, and a typing or skill test follows for the clerical and tax posts.

Honesty note: Adversarial verify pass pending (agent budget) — both question keys manually re-solved and confirmed. The pattern and Maharashtra weighting come from a syllabus audit held in the AvM backend repository, which flags several of its own estimates: the official prelims is one undivided 100-question paper, so the roughly 70/30 split between General Studies and the arithmetic-intelligence section is an estimate, as is the 60/40 General Studies to aptitude split inside Mains Paper 2. Sources also report the mains total variously as 200 or 400 marks depending on whether each 100-question paper is counted at one mark or two; the question counts are consistent, the marks are not. The vacancy figure is disputed — 2,619 in the original notification and 5,707 after a reported revision — and both are shown rather than one being picked silently. The application deadline is reported as both 19 July and 5 August 2026; the later date is used. Applicant counts and cutoff marks were not found in this pass and are shown as unknown. Age limits vary by post and advertisement.
