BSSC Inter Level Combined Competitive Exam
26,426 posts on one 10+2 qualification — the largest state intake in Bihar, and the qualifying bar moves with your category.
What this exam is
The 10+2 level intake for Bihar's departments, and by volume the biggest thing the commission runs: 26,426 posts in the current cycle after a revision. A higher-secondary certificate is the only academic requirement, which is exactly why the field is enormous and the paper leans on speed rather than depth.
Prelims is 150 questions in two and a quarter hours, split evenly between General Studies, General Science with Mathematics, and a Mental Ability Test. The marking is the state's own: four marks for a correct answer and one deducted for a wrong one, so a wrong guess costs five marks against answering nothing. Unusually, the qualifying bar is published by category — 40% for the general category, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC and 32% for SC, ST, women and persons with disabilities.
Mains runs two objective papers. Paper 1 carries a Hindi language component that is purely qualifying, and Paper 2 — 150 questions covering mathematics, general science and reasoning — is what the merit list is built from. Bihar-specific content sits at roughly half of the General Studies topics in both stages.

Two hundred marks, and 135 of them are about your subject and how to teach it — general knowledge is barely a fifth of one paper.
Honesty note: Adversarial verify pass pending (agent budget) — both question keys manually re-solved and confirmed. The pattern, marking scheme, category-wise qualifying percentages and Bihar state weighting come from a syllabus audit held in the AvM backend repository, which compiled them from coaching portals rather than a BSSC notification PDF. That audit flags its own uncertainty: the split of Paper 1 between general awareness and Hindi, and the sub-sections inside Paper 2, vary by advertisement, and per-subject question counts inside Paper 2 are estimates that sum to 150. The vacancy figure is reported as 26,426 after a revision by two portals and 25,311 by a third; the higher and more widely repeated number is shown. The June–July 2026 prelims window is from the BSSC calendar with no fixed day, and this pass could not confirm whether the exam was actually conducted inside it. Applicant counts, previous-cycle dates and cutoff marks were not found and are shown as unknown. Age limits are fixed per advertisement; the 18–37 band is as reported for this cycle.
