What this exam is

The constable intake for the Jharkhand Police, conducted by JSSC as the Jharkhand Constable Competitive Examination. Selection runs physical efficiency and standard tests, a medical, and a written exam — and the academic bar is deliberately low: a Class 10 pass, with an age band of roughly 18 to 25. The pay scale runs ₹21,700 to ₹69,100.

The written exam is one sitting with two OMR papers. Paper I is 100 questions on a regional or tribal language — Santhali, Ho, Mundari, Nagpuri, Khortha, Kurmali, Urdu, Bengali, Odia and others — and it is purely qualifying at 30%. Paper II is the one that ranks you: 50 questions of Hindi, 25 of general knowledge and 25 of numerical ability, all at matriculation level.

Marking is +3 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, so the four-mark swing on a wrong guess matters more than it looks on a 100-question paper. Jharkhand-specific material makes up roughly 43% of the general knowledge topics, which means the state's history, geography, polity and current affairs are worth about as much as everything national put together.

Honesty note: Adversarial verify pass pending (agent budget) — both question keys manually re-solved and confirmed. The two-paper structure, the 50/25/25 split inside Paper II, the +3/−1 marking and the Jharkhand weighting come from a syllabus audit held in the AvM backend repository, which drew them from coaching sources rather than a JSSC notification PDF and flags that the internal split of Paper II is not from a line-item official document. No cycle is live: JSSC had released no notification at the time of writing, so vacancies, application dates and exam dates are shown as unknown rather than estimated. Previous-cycle results, applicant counts and cutoff marks were not found in this pass. The ranking of tribal communities by population in the sample question follows Census figures for Jharkhand, where the Santhal are the largest group; the relative order of the smaller communities is standard but was not re-verified against a Census table here. Age and eligibility bands are re-fixed in every advertisement.
